  • Truck as delivered to workshop. Cab held onto chassis by gravity
    Cab mounted on chass
  • Dismantling cab for preliminary repairs
     
  • Rust through in lower cowl
     
  • Rusted section removed, The inner structure is then abrasive blasted and primed
     
  • Replacement section formed and trial fitted to cowl
     
  • Replacement section TIG welded into lower cowl
     
  • Inner cowl brace
     
  • Rear pillar foot
     
  • Replacement pillar foot fabricated
     
  • Showing how cab has been channeled down over the chassis, the area between the top of the chassis and the cab sill panel has to be spanned with a structural piece to support the cab and tie the front and rear pillars
     
  • Lower cab closing piece fabricated from 1.6mm hot rolled steel
     
  • Lower door rust-out
     
  • Lower door frame replacement fabricated and tack welded into position
     
  • Replacement door skin being shaped in the wheeling machine to duplicate correct contour
     
  • Door skin being trial fitted, the lower bead detail was added in the Pullmax machine
     
  • Pullmax machine set up for running bead detail
     
  • Cab rear after correcting impact damage and heat-shrinking stretched areas
     
  • Parts staged to be abrasive blasted and epoxy primed prior to next sequence of assembly
     
  • Aligning cab roof for best-option fit-up
     
  • Cab roof after planishing out impact damage at rear and sides
     
  • Vintage Air air-conditioner evaporator mounting brackets are fabricated and welded into the cowl
     
  • Threaded inserts are added where factory rivets or rusted/stripped threads show
     
  • Cab floors are fabricated and trial fitted, also shifter mechanism. Steel quilting and joggling is performed on the wheeling machine and Pullmax

  • Burst proof door latches to comply with Rego. requirements
     
  • MDF pick-up bed mocked up to gauge proportions and visuals for owner
     
  • Floor subrail to replace timber frame
     
  • Production seat frame being modified to become bomber seat
     
  • Door skin TIG welded in and edges crimped to create door gaps
     
  • 2 Inch tape laid as a cutting guide for roof chop
     
  • Roof and upper pillars removed for chop (note inner bracing to stabilize lower cab)
     
  • Joint preparation before welding
     
  • All welding performed with pulse TIG welder using 0.8 mm ER-70-S filler wire and pure Argon gas... less heat, less distortion, optimim strength and workability
     
  • Chop finalised, Garnish moulds and windscreen frame still to complete

  • Windscreen and garnish molds shortened and trial fitted
